Independence Day

There is one thing that Jay looks forward to each year on the fourth of July. . . . the F-16 flyover. The F-16s fly over the stadium at the beginning of the Stadium of Fire around 9pm. Every year, like clock work, Jay climbs to the top of David's roof and paces for almost an hour in great anticipation of witnessing this magical event. . . he doesn't want to miss a thing!

We were able to get a great picture of Jay doing just that this year. I'm so grateful that he's so easy to entertain. I was nervous about his climbing to the roof as he just turned 50 this year, but he escaped unscathed.

Our family had a wonderful time at David & Liz's house . . . it's so nice of them to have an open ended invitation for us to come. We had a shocking reality check this year when the kids cried and didn't want to get up so early for the balloons. . . . I think they're outgrowing it! We're probably going to have to mix it up next year by doing something different. . . . Here are some other pictures of our time this weekend: (~Em)

(this is from 2005 - all four boys - but it's our favorite)

I love all your firework pictures. Thanks for not putting on that nasty one of me taking a huge bite. :) The other one is a little better than that one. Perfect picture of Jay too.

Has Jay considered going to the air show at Hill Air Force Base up north?
